Asian dragon head- WIP by LisaToms Asian dragon head- WIP by LisaToms
Head started some time ago and still very unfinished.

I wanted to do an asian dragon head with some traditional features on it, but at the same time I didn't want the face ( and specially the snout) to look like traditional asian dragons so I made it in my own style :P
I really like how it's turning out and I think I'm not going to change anything on it except the horns, that I'm still deciding how they will be.

*material: Monster Clay*

Do you like it? Opinions are welcome :)

(Oh, and it will be casted in resin ;))

Stunning work, as usual. You have a extraordinary talent for creating art dolls. The first picture I ever saw of one of these sorts of dolls was of a fox of yours, now I love this style of doll. But regardless of how many artists I've found who specialize in them, you are still one of the greatest in my opinion. Keep up the fantastic work! I love it!

Oh, wow, this is amazing!  I love the little details - the tiny scales up by the nose, and the fur and the swirls.  I'd love to buy one if you sold them! ^^

Do you free sculpt all of your sculptures or do you work from sketches/other referance pictures to get everything looking the way you want it to?

Do you mean when I do my own designs? if yes, sometimes I do free sculpt, and others I work from sketches, but most times I do free sculpt :) ( I'm better at sculpting than at drawing, so making sketches doesn't help me so much xD)

Your sculpts are stunning, guh. All of them have such amazing, and somehow believable (despite it being fantasy) edge to them. You have to be one of my favorite sculptors, hands down. Can't wait to see it finished and on an actual doll!
(You should try deer horns, by the by.)

I'm not sure if I'll can finish it soon >< anyways, you'll see new dolls coming soon :)

Such detail! What  a fantastic face, he has so much personality. and I like what you did with the nose it really works in giving the Asian dragon impression without the bulbous nose.

is Monster Clay like polymer?

Is a non-drying clay so it can't be used to do original dolls. It's speciallly helpful for pieces that have to be molded

The jaw is so detailed...it looks like it can open up, it's that well sculpted! :wow:

Do you think you may be able to make these dragons with a moving jaw in the future?

This is absolutely gorgeous! I love the wide variety of textures you have capture for the fur and its transitions from fine fur to scales and to what looks possibly like feathers. The proportions are good. I'd like to see what this head would look like with slightly larger ear but that is just me. I love fluffy ears. The existing ear texture for fluff is wonderfully delicate. The curled fur along the upper brow and along the jaw line is fantastic a lovely homage to the traditional Asian dragon. Will you be showing any more WIP of this head I would love to see it from different angles.

Thank you! I don't think so, I haven't found a good material to do the long whiskers because I don't want them to be hard, but would  be cool if they were posable xD

That's really cute. Question, were you going for a canine look because that's what I think of with the length of the muzzle.

Yes, in this head and another one I sculpted some time ago I wanted to go for a more canine look because my other asian-like dragons ( the dragon spirits) were feline based xD
